Google is finally addressing the same on iOS (Android availability coming soon) by allowing users to filter their searches, introducing filter categories, suggesting relevant filters as you type, and bringing further search refinement options after you reach the results page.
Who Is Eligible For This Update?
According to Google, the update is now available for Google Workspace users, Google Workspace individual subscribers, and those with personal Google accounts. However, keep in mind that you need to be using the Google Drive app on an iOS device for this to work. Google states that it “will provide an update when this is available on Android devices.”
How It Works
Filter categories in the Google Drive app for iOS will be directly accessible below the search bar, and they include filters for File Type, Owners, and Last Modified for easy searching.
Moreover, Google Drive now also suggests relevant query filters as you type out your query. This enables you to easily select filters and saves you time that would have been needed while typing out the full search.
That said, these additions will come in handy for those files that you have lost track of on your Google Drive. Let’s say you want to look for an image on Google Drive but don’t remember its file name. In this case, you can simply select the file type as an image and choose the range in the last modified section to easily look for it.
