Cancer arises from genetic mutations or environmental factors that disrupt the normal regulation of cell growth and division, leading to the formation of tumors or the invasion of nearby tissues and organs. Cancer among older adults presents unique challenges due to age-related factors such as weakened immune function and increased susceptibility to chronic diseases. Older individuals may also have multiple comorbidities, complicating cancer treatment and management.
Treatment options vary depending on the type and stage of cancer but often include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, or a combination of these approaches. Despite advances in cancer research and treatment, the disease remains a leading cause of death worldwide.
