Ambedkar Jayanti Utsava Committee coordinator Penubala Chandrasekhar offers sweet to a man dressed up as B.R. Ambedkar, at the 134th Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations in Tirupati on Monday.
Giving a new angle to Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders initiated a cleanliness drive at all the Ambedkar statues in Tirupati ahead of celebrating his 134th birth anniversary on Monday.
BJP leaders initiated Swachhata drive at Ambedkar Circle before garlanding his statue in Tirupati on Monday, marking his 134th birth anniversary.
The Swachhata drive started on Sunday evening, when not only the statue, but also the pedestal, platform and the flight of stairs leading to the statues were cleaned up in a special operation. Later, the leaders lit candles at the statues marking the end of the cleanliness drive on Sunday night.
The garlanding ceremony started on a fresh note on Monday, where the leaders headed by Ambedkar Jayanti Utsava Committee convener Penubala Chandrasekhar gathered at the circles and paid tributes by loudly reading out a brief note from the preamble of the Constitution of India.
BJP Tirupati district president Samanchi Srinivas, TTD Trust Board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy and, the Utsava Committee’s co-conveners N. Naresh Babu and K. Harinatha Reddy reiterated that the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar such as equitable distribution of wealth, ensuring dignity to all the communities etc. would be possible only under the Narendra Modi dispensation.
