[ad_1]

CERT-IN, which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of the India, on February 21 issued a ‘high-severity’ alert to users of Google Chrome on desktop platforms.

It was found that “multiple vulnerabilities” exist in the affected versions of Google Chrome, and that an attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities, and potentially allow a remote attacker to “execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.”

How Are You At Risk?

CERT-In highlights that these vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome “due to Out of bounds memory access in Blink, Use after free in Mojo, Assessibilty; Inappropriate implementation in Site Isolation, Content Security Policy, Navigation and Insufficient policy enforcement in Download.” And that an attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities to trick a victim into visiting a “specially crafted” website.

There Are The Affected Google Chrome Versions

– Google Chrome versions prior to 122.0.6261.57 for Mac and Linux.

– Google Chrome versions prior to 122.0.6261.57/.58 for Windows.

How To Be Safe?

The sole method to ensure safety from these threats is by promptly updating your Google Chrome browser. This action will address the vulnerabilities, eliminating any cause for concern. Here’s how to update Google Chrome:

1. Access the menu with three dots located in the upper left corner.

2. Choose ‘Help’ from the options.

3. Click on ‘About Google Chrome.’

4. Google Chrome will initiate an automatic check for updates and install them as needed.

5. Upon confirming your browser is current, a message will appear stating “Google Chrome is up to date.”
