Meta AI lets you create images, answer queries but what if you want to disable it?
Meta extended support for the Meta AI chatbot for new markets. You might have spotted a new light-blue circle in your WhatsApp chats and wondered what it was. It started to roll out in the US and Canada first but more recently, it has begun to appear on devices throughout Europe, including the UK, as well as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India.
The AI-powered chatbot is being implemented throughout the whole Meta ecosystem, including Instagram and Messenger, and offers a few fundamental functions, including text generation, content creation, and question answering. However, users’ concerns about privacy and whether it can be disabled have also been sparked by its debut.
What Is the Function of WhatsApp’s Meta AI Button?
WhatsApp’s new button is located in the bottom-right corner on iOS and above the icon to initiate a new chat on Android. It enables direct communication between users and the Meta AI assistant. In addition to appearing in their personal contact lists, users can tag @Meta AI in their chats to ask them questions.
Meta’s expansive and publicly available Llama 3.2 language model serves as the foundation for the chatbot. Like ChatGPT when it originally debuted on WhatsApp, Meta AI began with fewer features, depending on what it thinks users want most, such as assisting users in creating and refining content or searching the internet for answers to queries. Later, more features are anticipated to be released.
What happens to that data, though?
According to Meta, unless you ask it for help, its assistant cannot access or read the content of your messages. Even then, the messages’ content is still encrypted from beginning to end, and no information is connected to other Meta accounts, such as Facebook or Instagram.
It is important to note that interactions with Meta AI are not encrypted, but private message content is. Users should not “send messages … with information you don’t want it to know,” as Meta cautions that whatever they give to the company could be used to enhance its AI models. Users will be able to quickly distinguish between discussions with Meta AI because it promises to make them “visually distinct.”
How to Disable Meta AI On WhatsApp?
What happens if you don’t want this feature? There is currently no way to remove or disable Meta AI from WhatsApp. The button will remain in the app even if you decide not to use it.
By resetting the AI, you can remove Meta AI’s copy of your chat’s messages and information while keeping yours intact. These commands are compatible with Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
– To reset a chat, type /reset-ai into any individual chat.
– To reset all talks, type /reset-all-ais in an individual chat with Meta AI, including group chats.
